Other funds

AMP Capital has been investing in Asian infrastructure since 1994. Our initial investments were via a fund-of-funds approach, and included investments in the Asian Infrastructure Fund (AIF) in 1994 and the Asian Equity Infrastructure Fund (AEIF) in 1999.

In 1999 we launched the Indian Infrastructure Fund (IIF) in partnership with the Unit Trust of India. The fund focused on opportunities in the Indian power generation, transport, oil and gas distribution, telecommunications and urban infrastructure.

IIF is a closed end fund, which closed subscriptions in 1999.

In 2004 we launched The Infrastructure Fund of India (TIFOI). Total commitments raised for the fund amounted to US$102 million (A$134.6 million).

TIFOI was set up to provide investors with access to infrastructure in India. It invested in non-listed equity (and equity-linked) securities of entities engaged in the development, ownership or operation of infrastructure or infrastructure-related facilities and projects in India. The fund focused on included sectors such as:

TIFOI is a closed end fund, which is closed to new subscription, and has been fully invested.

How the fund works

The AMP Capital Core Infrastructure Fund gives investors access to a portfolio of Australian and global listed and unlisted infrastructure assets which are diversified by asset type, lifecycle and location. It offers strong total return (income and capital growth) potential and is expected to have a low correlation to other asset classes, such as equities and bonds.

Direct Investment

APIR code AMP1180AU
Investment objective To provide total returns (income and capital growth) after costs and before tax, above the Fund's performance benchmark.
Investment approach The Fund provides diversification across a broad range of infrastructure sectors, through investment in both unlisted infrastructure assets and listed infrastructure securities. For unlisted infrastructure assets, we take a 'bottom up' approach where each opportunity is analysed on an individual basis taking into account the nature of the returns and risks of each asset. For listed infrastructure securities, we take a 'top down' approach where the focus is on selecting sectors that fit our infrastructure investment philosophy.

The Fund's risk level is based on the estimated number of negative annual returns for the Fund over any 20 year period and is not a complete assessment of the risks of investing in the Fund. For instance it does not detail what the size of a negative return could be or the potential for a positive return to be less than an investor may require to meet their objectives. Consequently, before choosing to invest or reinvest in the Fund, you should read the Fund's PDS and incorporated information and consider factors such as the likely investment return, the risks of investing and your investment time frame. Information about the methodology used for calculating the risk level is available here.
